1. China releases master plan for Hainan free trade port

Chinese authorities on Monday released a master plan for the Hainan free trade port, which aims to build the southern island province into a globally-influential high-level free trade port by the middle of the century.

A free trade port system focusing on trade and investment liberalization and facilitation will be "basically established" in Hainan by 2025 and become "more mature" by 2035, according to the plan jointly issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council. 6月1日，中共中央、国务院正式印发《海南自由贸易港建设总体方案》。

方案提出，到本世纪中叶，海南将全面建成具有较强国际影响力的高水平自由贸易港。到2025年将初步建立以贸易自由便利和投资自由便利为重点的自由贸易港政策制度体系，到2035年成为中国开放型经济新高地。

2. WHO says it hopes to continue US collaboration

The World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus on Monday said his organization hopes to continue working with the US.

"The world has long benefited from the strong, collaborative engagement with the government and the people of the United States," he said at a virtual press conference from Geneva.

The WHO chief said the US government, peoples' contributions and generosity toward global health over the decades has been immense, and have made a great difference in public health worldwide.

"It is WHO's wish for this collaboration to continue," he said. (Xinhua)

世卫组织表示希望继续与美国合作

世界卫生组织总干事谭德塞6月1日表示，世卫组织希望在未来能继续与美国合作。

谭德赛当天在日内瓦举行的网络新闻发布会上称：“长期以来，世界卫生领域一直得益于与美国政府和人民的强有力的合作参与。几十年来，美国政府和人民对全球卫生的贡献和慷慨援助，在全世界的公共卫生领域都产生了巨大的影响。”

谭德赛说称，世卫组织希望这种合作能够继续下去。

3. Spain reports zero virus fatalities since March

Spain said on Monday that there were zero fatalities reported from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24-hours, marking a first since March.

The development is “very, very encouraging,” emergency health response chief Fernando Simn said.

Also, Spain recorded only 71 new COVID-19 infections in the same period, Simon said at a news conference.

“We are in a very good place in the evolution of the pandemic,” he added. (AP)

西班牙自疫情爆发后首次出现单日零死亡

西班牙卫生部下设的健康警报和紧急情况协调中心负责人西蒙6月1日表示，自3月份疫情爆发后，西班牙在过去24小时首次报告单日零死亡病例，新增病例也大幅下降至71例。

4. NYC mayor eyeing curfew after violence flares amid protests

New York’s mayor was considering putting the nation’s biggest city under curfew Monday after nights of destruction followed three days of largely peaceful protests over George Floyd’s death.

Mayor Bill de Blasio had previously rejected imposing a curfew, unlike other US cities to curb violence that erupted amid demonstrations over police brutality and racial injustice following Floyd's death last week.

The mayor emphasized that no decision had been made on a curfew as “there are advantages and disadvantages.” (AP)

暴力示威不断蔓延 纽约市长称正考虑执行宵禁

5月31日晚，纽约市抗议警察暴力执法活动进入第四天，当晚的抗议活动中出现了暴力事件。纽约市市长德布拉西奥6月1日表示，他正在考虑在纽约市执行宵禁。

5. DR Congo reports fresh Ebola outbreak

DR Congo reported a new Ebola outbreak in its northwest region on Monday, the latest health emergency for a country already fighting a surging number of coronavirus infections.

Health Minister Eteni Longondo said "four people have already died" from Ebola in the northwestern city of Mbandaka.

The Ebola epidemic in the country's east has killed 2,280 people since August 2018, and officials had hoped to proclaim it over on June 25. (AP)

刚果（金）宣布新一轮埃博拉疫情暴发

刚果（金）卫生部长隆贡多6月1日说，实验室检测结果表明该国西北部赤道省首府姆班达卡暴发了新一轮埃博拉疫情，目前已经导致4人死亡。除埃博拉疫情外，刚果（金）目前还需应对不断增多的新冠疫情病例。

刚果（金）此轮埃博拉疫情始于2018年8月，目前已经导致2280人死亡，当局曾计划在今年6月25日正式宣布埃博拉疫情结束。

6. Taj Mahal damaged in deadly India thunderstorm

A deadly thunderstorm that rolled across parts of northern India damaged sections of the Taj Mahal, including the main gate and a railing running below its five lofty domes, officials said Sunday.

India's top tourist attraction has been shut since mid-March as part of measures to try and combat the coronavirus pandemic.

Superintending Archaeologist of the Archaeological Survey of India, Vasant Kumar Swarnkar added there was no damage to the building's main structure. (CGTN)

印度泰姬陵遭雷暴袭击 部分建筑被毁坏

印度官员5月31日表示，一场雷暴袭击了印度北部的部分地区，毁坏了泰姬陵的部分建筑，包括主大门和部分栏杆。

7. Israeli scientists dig up cannabis traces in ancient temple

Israeli archaeologists say they’ve found cannabis residue on artifacts from an ancient temple in southern Israel —providing the first evidence of the use of hallucinogens in the ancient Jewish religion.

In a research paper, the authors say the discovery from an 8th-century BC shrine at Tel Arad offers the first proof for “the use of mind-altering substances as part of cultic rituals in Judah,” including the first Jewish Temple that stood in Jerusalem at the same time. (AP)
