Schindler elevator staff’s hidden heroics

担架床将命垂一线的患者从救护车接过，几名医护人员迅速将其运送进电梯至急诊室.......一个多月前无数遍重复的这一画面至今还留存在我们的脑海。在百万医护人员冲锋在抗击新冠病毒的“前线”、医院和方舱收治接踵而来的肺炎患者时，迅达（中国）电梯有限公司武汉分公司的一些超凡勇士们也在勇敢逆行，坚守岗位，保障武汉医院电梯这一“生命通道”的畅通。随着各行各业有序复工，迅达电梯人又在守候高铁站、地铁站、写字楼、与市民日常生活供给紧密相关的超市等地的电梯安全，助力人们复工复产。

As soon as the ailing patient was transferred from the ambulance to the stretcher bed, medical staff hurriedly pushed it into the elevator and went up to the emergency room. This scene occurred countless times mor e than one month ago in Wuhan, China’s epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic.

When the doctors have been hustling on the front line, a batch of common staff heroes from the Wuhan branch of Schindler China have also courageously remained at their posts to serve hospitals and shelters that receive COVID-19 patients. As more and more enterprises in China are resuming work, these staff are safeguarding the elevators in high-speed rail stations, metro stations and supermarkets crucial to people’s livelihood.

迅达（中国）电梯有限公司武汉分公司的负责人依然记得，2月7日正月十四，武汉封城的第15天，收到湖北省委党校项目部通告“项目被征用建设方舱医院”，其中有8台迅达电梯必须在3天内完成安装收尾、调试及验收，2月9日移交维保以满足方舱医院的营运需要。于是，管理层立即召开紧急启动会议，分公司安装、项目质量支持、产品安全检查、维保等部门11位技术骨干主动请缨，克服市内交通管制造成的不便连夜奔赴安装现场。在各部门共同努力下，经过2天2夜加班加点顺利完成移交。

The heads of the Wuhan branch still remember that on February 2, the 14th day of the first Chinese lunar month and also the 15th day of Wuhan’s lockdown, it received a notification that the Hubei Provincial Party School Project was required to build a makeshift hospital and 8 Schindler elevators should be installed and delivered within three days. An emergency meeting was immediately held at which 11 technical backbone staff from various departments actively registered to finish the task. The 11 men overcame the traffic difficulties due to the lockdown and set out to the construction site that very night. After 2 days and 2 nights of working round the clock, the elevators were delivered into timely use.

2月9日湖北省委党校方舱医院投入使用后，为确保患者、医护人员以及医疗物资、生活用品快捷送达目的楼层，迅达维保部门专门申请了值班室。汉口片区3位维保员工轮流值班，即便知道周边有被感染的病人，也毫不退缩，迎难而上，为医院提供24小时应急保障服务。

When the elevators were put into use in the makeshift hospital on February 9, the Schindler Maintenance Department specially applied for a duty room in the hospital to ensure the elevators’ normal operation. Although knowing large amounts of infected patients were around, three maintenance staff took turns on duty and provided 24-hour emergency services.

自疫情发生以来，除了武汉分公司，公司下属合资企业西继迅达也一直在与时间赛跑，加班加点生产包括北京小汤山医院改造工程在内的全国多地医院建设工程项目所需电梯，并第一时间发往现场。

Apart from the Wuhan branch, XJ Schindler, a joint venture of the company, has also been racing against time to work overtime and produce elevators required for COVID- 19 treatment hospital projects across China, including that of Beijing Xiaotangshan Hospital.

上海总部在疫情防控期间也受到各级领导褒奖。嘉定区经委、嘉定工业区等单位的领导先后来到园区，对迅达的防疫工作都表示了肯定。定期消毒、严格管理确保了公司复工复产顺利有序进行，使其在3月初就顺利与凯德集团旗下CapitalMalls签订框架协议，为复工起了个良好的开头。

The Shanghai headquarters was also praised by government officials. Leaders of the Jiading District Economic Affairs Committee and the Jiading Industrial Zone were all satisfied with the company’s epidemic prevention and control work in their inspection. Regular disinfection and strict management ensured that the company resumed work smoothly and even signed a framework agreement with CapitalMalls, a subsidiary of CapitaLand, marking a positive start to its business resumption.

除做好企业的本职工作，为客户提供优秀产品与服务，积极推进客户企业安全有序复工之外，迅达电梯还向上海市嘉定区红十字会捐赠人民币500万元，助力抗“疫”，这是目前嘉定红十字会收到的单笔最高金额捐赠，也是电梯行业内单笔最高金额捐赠。

Besides delivering excellent products and services, as well as promoting safe and orderly work resumption, Schindler has also donated RMB 5 million to the Jiading District Red Cross to help fight COVID-19. This is the single largest donation amount that has ever been received by the Jiading District Red Cross, as well as across the industry.
